Focus: Organization of Content
A substantive edit requires a look at the overall goals of the writing project and close work with the author to develop the writing to suit your purpose, function and audience. This is a review from a broad perspective of the structure of the manuscript. The editor works closely with the author to suggest improvements in organization, structure, and consistency, to maintain a single authorial voice. Attention is focused on developing clarity in content, language, style, and presentation suitable for the manuscript’s intended purpose and readership.
